KSRTC has again failed to distribute salary to its staff on time despite a Kerala High Court order mandating salary distribution by the 5th of every month. As of December 9, the employees haven’t received their salary for the month of November.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured employees that salaries would be distributed within the stipulated time. However, the assurances are largely overlooked by the KSRTC management.
Meanwhile, KSRTC is earning around Rs 200 crore in revenue with the onset of the Sabarimala season. It is observed that the board can pay the salary on time even after meeting the expenses on fuel and loan repayment.
Since the start of the year, KSRTC has been failing to distribute salary on time. The salary for December 2021 was distributed to employees only on January 7, 2022. In the following months, this trend continued, and the salary for the month of May was distributed only by June 26. Following this, the employee union approached the High Court.
While considering the plea, the High Court directed the KSRTC management to ensure that salary will be paid by the 5th of every month.
