Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has evoked laughter among netizens for his ‘finding’ that cloudbursts in the country may well be engineered by foreign entities to destabilize India.
Rao made his comment during his visit to the flood-hit town of Bhadrachalam in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The chief minister also said that the flood in Telangana was due to cloudburst in Godavari.
“There is this new phenomenon called cloudburst. People say there is some conspiracy, we don’t know how far that is true, that people from other countries are deliberately doing cloudburst in our country at certain locations. In the past they did it near Kashmir, at Ladakh-Leh, then in Uttarakhand and now we are getting some reports that they are doing it in the Godavari region”, KCR said.
The chief minister was accompanied by Telangana chief secretary Somesh Kumar and Palla Rajeshwar, chairman of the government’s farmer direct benefit transfer programme. Many areas of the state have been submerged under the water due to the rains, which have been going on for about a week. In the last few days, the water level in Bhadrachalam was above 70 feet. However, now it has gone down to 60 feet.
