In an incident that throws light upon the pathetic condition of a few Hindu temples in Kerala, the police have registered a case in connection with the incident in which a portion of the concrete on top of an anakottil fell down, during a baby’s choroonu (grain initiation) ceremony.
According to reports, the concrete had fell on the head of the baby’s mother, who sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The incident took place around 10 am at Kalavoor Temple, on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Arya of Kalavoor, who met with the accident during the choroonu ceremony of her six-month old baby Abaya Dev.
The accident happened shortly after the baby was placed in the anakottil for the choroonu. There were four stiches on Arya’s head. However, the baby escaped without any injuries. Meantime, a concrete piece had fallen on the head of Arya’s elder son too. The child’s head remains swollen, said Arya.
It has been alleged that the anakottil has been dilapidated for four years and no action was taken despite numerous complaints.
