Two youth who opened fire at a family in the locality were nabbed by locals and handed them over to police at Nanminda 12. Abdul Rahman Shafi from Cheruvadi and Muneer from Kodiyathoor were taken into custody by the Balussery police for trying to create chaos and ruckus in the family of Madathil Thazhe Wilson.
The incident took place around 9 pm on Saturday. According to the Balussery police, the people who tried to endanger the lives of Wilson are friends of a Balussery resident who had lent money to Wilson.
Wilson was shifting his belongings to a nearby relative’s house as his property was attached. The men with the gun came and opened fire at him. He narrowly escaped. His wife and two children were present at the time of the incident.
As per reports, ten years ago, Wilson had borrowed Rs 50 lakh from a Balussery Panayi resident pledging his property. According to Wilson, he had repaid Rs 87 lakh, including interest, but the lender moved court claiming more money was to be repaid. Wilson alleged that the lender tried to take over the house that was pledged instead of returning it.
