Four Muslim youth were arrested in Karnataka’s Mangaluru for attempting to sell ambergris worth Rs. 2.2 crores. The gang included 2 from the neighbouring districts of Kerala too.
The arrested have been identified as Jabir M A (35) and Shabad L K (27) from Kodagu, and Asir V P (36) and Sharief N (32) from Kasaragod district. They were trying to sell ambergris at Jeppinamogaru under the limits of Kankanady town police station limits.
During the operation, the police have seized five mobile phones, a Swift car, Rs 1,070 in cash, altogether totaling Rs 2,25,92,070 including ambergris. A case under sections 2(32), 2(36), 39(b), (d), 44, 48(a), 49(A), 49(B), 50, 51 of the Wild Life Protection Act 1972 has been book against the accused.
