If MA Jinnah could claim to be ‘Father Of Pakistan’, if Sheikh Mujiburrahaman could claim to have created Bangladesh, Jawaharlal Nehru enjoys most exclusive privilege of carving out ‘Pak Occupied Kashmir’ single-handedly, a ‘rose’ on his breast-button that no one else could claim such an achievement so far.
Evil designs of Pakistani raiders was foiled by Comm. Meher Chandra who landed troops well in time at Leh negotiating heavy odds and Maj. General Thimayya who moved his tanks to Zozilla Pass to destroy all Pakistani bunkers. It is a different script altogether as to how Gen. Thimayya was insulted by the then Defence Minister Krishna Menon and humiliated by Nehru himself on several occasions. When Bharatiya Army was on the verge of capturing POKs capital Muzaffarabad, Nehru ordered Army not to proceed and return. Our soldiers were utterly frustrated and shattered albeit they obeyed orders being men in uniforms. Creation of POK was Nehrus solo-manoeure otherwise entire J&K would have been under Bharatiya occupation. It is this POK where deadly terrorists are trained and forced into Bharata. The then Western Command Lt. General KM Cariappa and Maj. General Thimayya together requested Nehru in Teen Murti Bhavan for just two more weeks to complete the entire operation in Dec. 1948 yet they were declined. Both returned disgusted and enraged at Nehrus attitude of intransigence.
These are critical moments in military history of every country when Head of the State turns treacherous and back-stabber. To effectively tackle such imbroglios, Constitution must allow Army Chief to go ahead according to his professional judgement defying even the Prime Minister or even President under a clause of augmented operational freedom. If that too is not possible, then in such situations of treachery by nations head, Army Chief should be allowed to shoot down such a Prime Minister and go ahead to complete ongoing military operations. More so because then in Jan. 1949, there was no Constitution and Bharatiya Army was not bound to follow anti-national orders of an anti-national Prime Minister. Few years later, Nehru in a private conversation with Gen. Cariappa blandly confessed, ceasefire should not have been there at all !! Nehru could afford such a duplicity and perfidy by then because Mountbattens agenda was duly completed already. And the agenda was to handover northern Kashmir to Pakistan and to secure Pakistani Punjab from Bharata which they achieved so deviously courtesy Nehrus treachery. It is very well exposed by the incident of Maj. William Brown of Gilgit Scouts imprisoning Kashmir Governor Ghansara Singh on Oct. 31, 1947 and declaring accession of entire Kashmir to Pakistan by hoisting Pakistani flag, then handing over charge of Kashmir to his deputy, a Pakistani Major. William Brown was later honoured with ‘Most Exalted Order Of The British Empire’ in 1948. Nehrus Minister NV Gadgil and Private Secretary MO Mathai categorically confirmed direct and active complicity of Nehru in creation of POK in their writings later.
Not only military action in POK was botched up but also 1965 and 1971 wars too by the then Governments in office headed by the ‘Royal Dynasty’ of Nehru-Gandhi-Vadra. These instances of cowardice and treachery probably prompted COAS Gen. K. Sundarji of Operation Bluestar to write the book ‘Blind Men Of Hindoostan’.
He would have been deadly on target had he named it ‘Blind Men Of Indian National Congress’ !!
