On every Republic Day on Jan. 26, ceremonial 21-Gun salute is accorded to the President on his/her arrival before commencement of Republic Day Parade. Similar honour is also conceded to incoming President after he/she is sworn in to Office. 21-Gun salutes happen to be entirely a British legacy which Congress regime did not dispense with as they are hard-core believers in the doctrine of Status Quo seeded by British-Goras.
Only Hyderabad, Baroda and Mysore enjoyed the privilege of 21-Gun salutes till conclusion of WW-I. Gwalior and J&K were allowed 21-Gun salutes by Gora British-occupiers in 1917 in recognition of their services to the British Crown in WW-1. Others were allowed 21-Gun salutes within their Kingdom and 19-Gun salutes outside. Protocols were strict. In a candid language, Brit-Goras honoured treachery (i.e. Gaddari) against the nation with 21-Gun salutes !! And we continue with the putrid and disgusting practice even now i.e. more than sever decades of independence.
We must change it now in harmony with our pristine Sanatana culture. Why not welcome and honour President as well as visiting Heads of States by showering rose-petals by well-adorned elephants with chanting of Mantra-s and loudly resonating collective Shankha-nada by a battery of Purohits in their traditional outfits ?
