Will work with CPM to counter RSS; police officials from outside state are dangerous
In an audacious move, the radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) has said it would provide security to Muslim police officials in Kerala Police. Addressing a press conference in Malappuram, PFI state president CP Muhammad Basheer and secretary S Nisar said Muslim policemen are being targeted by Sangh parivar and other organisations. The response came in the wake of suspension of a PFI activist in the police force PK Anas for leaking personal information about RSS workers to SDPI goons who were plotting attacks on the Sangh activists.
Former police chiefs in the Kerala Police have already revealed that the force has a large group of SDPI sympathisers – whose WhatsApp group is Pancha Velicham (Green Light) — in the rank and file and they push the Islamist agenda. Experts have said that this has serious implications on the country’s security. But the state government, pursuing an appeasement policy, has turned a blind eye to the development. It must be also mentioned here that a senior police official was transferred after he gave clean chit to a few youths who were undertaking arms training/bomb-making in the forested areas of Pathanamthitta district. Finding no cooperation from Kerala Police, the Q-Squad of Tamil Nadu police raided the area and arrested the terrorists.
PFI leaders said they will resist all attempts by RSS to target these tainted policemen. Basheer said his organisation will work along with CPI(M) to target RSS. He said police officers hailing from other states are also dangerous.
The move is believed to be attempt to intimidate police officials from other states. There is a complaint that Kerala Police refuse to act or arrest Popular Front activists fearing safety for their lives. Videos of Popular Front leaders openly issuing threats to police officials abound in social media.
