The Kerala government has recommended to the Center that the states should be empowered to remove the Governor in case of violation of the Constitution, post of Chancellor and in criminal prosecution.
The state submitted the recommendation to Justice Madan Mohan Poonchi Commission that was assigned to to report on changes to be made in Central-State relations. As per reports, the cabinet has approved the recommendation.
The recommendation also says that the appointment of the governor should be discussed with the government. The state also proposes to amend the constitution for this.
The government also puts forward an important proposal to exercise the governor’s discretion. One such proposal is that there is a delay in getting approval for bills sent by the government for approval. The state also demands that action be taken to take a decision without delay.
It is noteworthy that this recommendation comes at a time when the current open war with the governor continues.
