The Kerala police on Tuesday informed the court that actor Dileep has destroyed the evidence from the phones he submitted before the court as part of the investigation into the case over the alleged conspiracy to murder the investigating officers of the 2017 sexual assault case.
During the analysis of the phone, the police found that evidence was destroyed on January 30. However, the prosecution also told the court that it could collect some crucial pieces of evidence from the phone and that the analysis of the digital evidence is yet to be over.
The court told the prosecution that the probe cannot be continued indefinitely and asked them how many more days they need. The prosecution informed the court that it got permission to verify the sound samples of the accused only on Monday.
The court had given time till March 1 to finish the further probe. However, the state informed the court that it needs more time to investigate the matter. The probe is in the final lap. Statements of as many as 20 witnesses were recorded, it said.
