India will be expanding scope of countries under Vande Bharat Mission in the second week of repatriation from 15th May.
Government sources said Indians will be repatriated from other countries like Russia, Germany, Thailand, France, Spain, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
As of now, a total of 67, 833 requests for repatriation have been registered. 34 percent of these are requests from students, and 30 percent from migrant workers.
In Week One, 64 flights carrying around 15,000 returnees from 12 countries are expected to land at 14 airports across India till 15th of May.
As of now, 4 flights have already landed in India. Government sources said 27 flights shall take off from the Gulf region during Week One, including the 2 that have already landed.
14 flights shall take off during Week One from South-East Asia including Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.
Seven flights shall take off in US from 4 airports which are New York, Washington DC, Chicago and San Francisco. Another 7 flights shall take off from London in the UK.
INS Jalashwa is all set to sail from Male to Kochi today with around 700 returnees on board. INS Magar is expected to set sail from Male with 200 returnees on 10th May.
They said both ships will make another journey from Male to Tuticorin depending upon requirements.
Sources also said Chabahar port in Iran continues to remain operational. India is using it to supply huge consignment of wheat and other assistance to Afghanistan.
