In a bid to avoid public outrage, the CPM-owned Karuvannur Bank said that it will provide compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Philomena, a depositor who died on Wednesday, after failing to get back her lost money for treatment. The decision to provide compensation to the family was taken after holding a meeting with RDO.
Philomena, a former govt employee who had a deposit of Rs 30 lakh in the bank, died on Tuesday morning after failing to get back her lost money for treatment. Philomena succumbed to her illness at Thrissur Medical College.
