Bihar government will pay rail fare of stranded migrant labourers and students who are coming to the state during lockdown. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar categorically said the government is paying the fares of stranded students returning from Kota in Rajasthan by special trains. Mr. Kumar said the students who are coming back from Kota do not have to pay any train fare.
The Chief Minister said rail fares of migrant workers would be reimbursed on completion of their 21 day period of quarantine at their respective centre at the block level.
Nitish Kumar said each migrant worker or other people returning from outside the state will be paid rupees 500 along with reimbursement of train and other fares at their respective block quarantine centre.
A minimum amount of rupees one thousand will be paid to each returnee on completion of the quarantine period.
Nitish Kumar thanked the Centre for providing special trains to facilitate transportation of stranded, migrant workers, students and others from different parts of the country.
Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar said employment is being provided to migrant workers according to their capabilities. Mr Kumar said employment will be provided to each migrant labourers under MNREGA. He said MNREGA card is being prepared to those labourers who were kept in quarantine centre.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar thanked the Centre for providing special trains to facilitate transportation of stranded, migrant workers, students and others from different parts of the country.
