“Sajan Saan Rooh Rihaniyoon”, a unique presentation based on Sindhi Sufi Music and Kathak, was organized by the Sindhi Academy, Department of Art, Culture and Languages, Government of Delhi on at Kamani auditorium in New Delhi on Saturday. Delhi Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was the chief guest of the event.
Samskritiki Shreyaskar presented the evening of Kathak and Sindhi Sufi music by senior disciples of Guru Rani Karnaa. Sanjog is an attempt, a discovery of Kathak infused with depth, richness, elegance, dignity and contemplative beauty which is so unique Rani Karnaa’s sensibility of Kathak. This series was initiated by Debashree Bhattacharya and Sohini Debnath, the two senior disciples of Guru Rani Karnaa. Sanjog is revisiting, re-choreographing, reconstructing and deconstructing traditional numbers from Rani Karnaa’s repertoire into series of duets, trios or group presentation. “Sanjog also looks at innovation and experiment with the Kathak form… choreographies to a wide range of music, text, poetry and more,” said one of the organisers.
This event featured an amalgamation of beautiful dance form Kathak and soft, heart-touching Sufi Music. Six Kathak choreographic presentations like Leela Chanesar, Shumar, Naale Alakh, Raqs, Kiyan Rijhaya, Tarana in Raag Darbari were also presented.
