Five Left Front MLAs of the state have approached the Kerala High Court against the Enforcement Directorate targeting Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
K K Shailaja, IB Satheesh, M Mukesh, E Chandrashekaran, Kadannappalli Ramachandran are the MLAs who have filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). Interestingly, the PIL comes at a time when former finance minister Thomas Issac has challenged the summons issued by ED for interrogation in connection with the financial transactions of KIIFB.
According to the plea filed by MLAs, ED is trying to defame and destroy the reputation of KIIFB under the garb of probe into masala bond issue. The plea stated that there is nothing illegal in RBI approved masala bonds.
The MLAs blamed the ED and said KIIFB is being targeted over silly matters as it powers the ambitious projects of the state. The MLAs cited the Supreme Court warning against union government for hindering ambitious projects over silly matters.
ED’s move in spite of the presence of constitutional bodies for conflict resolution on Centre-state issues is illegal, the plea stated.
