In a tragic incident, despite taking prescribed vaccines after being bitten by a dog, a college student who was undergoing treatment for rabies died here Thursday. She was 18.
The deceased has been identified as Sreelekshmi, daughter of Sugunan of Palakkad and Sindhu. The dog of her neighbour bit her when she was going to the college on May 30 in the morning. Sreelekshmi had taken all the vaccines prescribed by the health department.
She showed signs of rabies when she was taken to a private clinic after she got a fever. She was later shifted to Thrissur Medical College. She died early this morning. She was a first-year BCA student at a private college in Coimbatore.
