Three students have been admitted to a hospital in Tamil Nadu for food poisoning after consuming shawarma. Praveen (22), Parameswaran (21) from Puthikotta and Manikandan (22) from Dharmapuri were affected by food poisoning. They are students of Thanjavur Orathunadu Government Veterinary College.
All three are currently undergoing treatment at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. The hospital officials said that their health condition was satisfactory.
As per reports, they ate shawarma from a hotel near the college. Upon returning to the hostel, all three experienced vomiting and other discomforts following which they approached the hospital.
Following the incident in which a student was killed after eating shawarma in Kerala, inspections are being carried out in various places in Tamil Nadu by Food Safety Department.
Police have registered a case against the hotel and started an investigation.
