In a distressing incident that took place in Yakutpura, Hyderabad, a Hindu boy was brutally beaten by a group of Muslim youths due to his relationship with a Muslim girl. The Rein Bazar police have filed a case against the accused individuals, charging them with attempted murder, kidnapping, and extortion.
The victim, 19-year-old S Karthik, a resident of L B Nagar, had traveled to SRT Colony in Yakutpura on May 11 to meet his girlfriend, who resided in the old city. The couple had been in a relationship for the past five months, having connected through Instagram.
Using a mobile phone at a nearby pan shop, Karthik contacted his girlfriend and asked her to meet him near the shop. However, as they met, a group of assailants identified as Ikram, Mohammed, Nayeem, Sohail, and two others confronted them, objecting to their meeting in the area. A quarrel ensued between the couple and the attackers.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused individuals assaulted Karthik using knives, iron rods, and sticks, inflicting injuries on his body. Additionally, it is alleged that the assailants made an extortion call to Narasimha Goud, Kartik’s father, demanding a sum of fifty thousand rupees. The attackers also reportedly attempted to kidnap Karthik, but he managed to escape and safely return home. Subsequently, Karthik filed a complaint with the Rein Bazar police.
Detective Inspector A. Madhusudhan Reddy of the Rein Bazar police station confirmed that a case has been registered against the five accused individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is currently underway to gather evidence and apprehend the perpetrators.
