The radical Islamist outfit Popular Front of India, which has been banned by the central government, had a clear strategy to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047. In its four-layered strategy, South India was the key where it planned to build its jihadi capacities. A committed cadre base was built in Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana. According to the chargesheet filed by the National Investigative Agency (NIA), the arrested leaders of the PFI were involved in aiding and funding cadres to commit terror activities as part of violent jihad to overthrow the government. This is the fifth chargesheet in a week.
The chargesheet mentions about the role of Anshad Badaruddin, Firoze Khan and Rouf Sharif who are now languishing in the Lucknow jail. It may be mentioned here that these persons were arrested on the basis of dubious journalist Siddique Kappan’s inputs. Also, information provided by Kappan helped unravel the working of the Islamist outfit.
According to NIA officials, the PFI plan was to take up issues which could be used to drive wedge among Hindus and keep them divided while aggressively radicalizing Muslim community. The PFI had roped in ex-servicemen for training the cadres. Arms training were given to youngsters with an aim to inflict maximum casualties on Hindus. They had prepared a hitlist of RSS and Hindu organizations and their family members.
PFI had planned that in case of a war with Pakistan, the organization would launch an onslaught from the South and capture power in South India.
It had also formed support groups within the police force, bureaucracy, media and army.
