Following Adhila and Noora lesbian couples who decided to live together, two other Malayali women in love with each other have moved the Supreme Court praying for justice.
After the High Court of Kerala directed her partner to be subjected to counseling, the petitioner took her case to the Supreme Court.
On Monday, a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the case and issued a stay on the High Court proceedings.
The Supreme Court also ordered the detainee’s parents to bring her before the family court in Kollam.
An interview will be arranged with the Supreme Court E-Committee to determine if the detainee is being held illegally.
The court has directed that statements be recorded fairly and without correction, and the report will be submitted in a sealed cover.
The petitioner claims the counseling session was intended to change her partner’s sexual orientation.
