A Madrassa teacher accused of molesting a minor girl was sentenced to imprisonment and fined by the court. The court sentenced Mohammad Kasim (47) of Blangad Karuppamveed. The court sentenced him to 31 years in prison and a fine of Rs 2.35 lakh. The incident occurred in Thrissur district of Kerala. Back in late 2020, newspapers rep[orted that Kasim was a local Indian Union Muslim league (IUML) leader.
The Chavakkad Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) court has awarded fast-track punishment in the case of sexually molesting a 10-year-old girl. The case is that from July 2019 to March 2020, the child was subjected to serious sexual assault over several days. Earlier, a case was filed against him on the complaint of the child’s family. While the rest of the world was under corona lockdown, the pedophile Madrassa mullah was preying on young children to satisfy his perverted sexual needs.
The sentence was pronounced by Chavakkad Fast Track Special Court(POCSO), Judge Anyas Thayyill. If the fine is not paid, the court has ordered the government to ensure that Kasim serves an additional 28 months in prison.
Madrassas have become hotbeds of sexual atrocities against both underage girls and sodomy is rampant against minor boys. Though strict punishment is being meted out to such perverts, it has not stemmed the atrocities against children by Islamists. PCSO cases are being reported from Kerala on a daily basis. Most accused are from a particular religion.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court said that the practice of the accused marrying the victim and thus settling rape cases is increasing in order to escape the rape case. Justice Swarkantha Sharma pointed out that the emergence of such a practice is very disturbing. The court’s observations came while rejecting the demand of an accused to quash the FIR in the POCSO case.
In many cases of rape, the accusedagrees to marry the victim, especially in cases where the girl becomes pregnant. However, after the marriage, the case is withdrawn and the accused abandons the girl, the judge said. These are dangerous trends evolving in our society.
The court rejected the plea of a 20-year-old man to cancel the case of raping a 17-year-old minor girl and impregnating her. The accused met the victim during the tuition class, drugged the girl with alcohol and raped her. Later he threatened to spread the pictures and raped her continuously. The girl informed her family when she became pregnant. With this, the accused youth threatened the family members and signed the marriage documents. Later he started living in a rented house with the girl.
Subsequently, a petition was filed to quash the FIR. The petitioner contended that the two were in love and had consensual intercourse. However, the court pointed out that the girl testified that she was being raped. The petition was then dismissed.
Better monitoring of madrassas should help preempt such rape cases. Will the male-dominated Muslim society agree to such means? Boys who are victims of such crimes will consider such acts normal and continue to indulge in the same after they attain adulthood.
