Taliban laid down an inhuman judgment on a young lady who eloped with a married man. However, before the judgment could be meted out to the lady, she committed suicide rather than face the cruel fate that awaited her. The incident occurred in the Ghor province of Afghanistan.
The Khaama Press reported that the lady was to be executed by stoning on Friday. The Taliban had already executed the man on October 13. The police chief of Ghor province, Abdul Rehman, said that as there were no jails to house female prisoners, it was decided to stone her to death.
However, the young lady committed suicide by strangling herself with the head scarf.
In recent times, the number of women who are escaping from their houses is on the increase in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. If caught, the Taliban punishes these women, either by flogging or by the more inhuman method – death by stoning.
The cruelty towards women are on the increase since the Taliban took power for the second time in that country. Women are excluded from education and workplaces. They are banned from learning after the sixth standard. Many women lost their jobs since these laws were passed.
Lakhs of women in Afghanistan are fighting for their rights in education, work, social, and health.
