In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, two Police personnel martyred as some terrorists fired indiscriminately upon a deployment Police party at Nowgam Bypass area in the outskirts of Srinagar city this morning, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.
Police said that three police personnel sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital in Srinagar, where two among them succumbed to their grievous injuries and attained martyrdom. They included Selection Grade Constable Fayaz Ahmad from Kulgam and Constable Ishfaq Ayoub Khanday from Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off by the security forces and massive search operation has been launched to nab the assailants. Further details are awaited.
