There are no regrets in life but lessons: Article by Dr. Janatha Ramanathan

Make each day your masterpiece

John Wooden

Our life marks different pauses during the journey. It is from your peace of mind that a peaceful perception of the world arises. Be nice to the people on the way up, for you may meet them on the way down.

The world has become very complex and tormenting. It is very difficult to dwell in this world freely and to enjoy life with such teasing, messy minds of mankind. How can we enjoy the things that we laboured for? How can we deal with things with so many onlookers minding our work? Can we fulfill our promises if we always have them compromised? If we do excellently well, people criticize us. If we fail to do, people will despise us. What are we going to do then?

It is excruciating to live in a hostile world. A world where duplicity and hypocrisy lie. A world where adversities are ample. This world is definitely not ours. We are just tenants here. It is supposed to be a world of peace but it turns out to be a world of lies and evils. No one is to be blamed. We are making it so. We are all answerable for all exploitation, discrimination, betrayal and other misfortunes. Yes, it may sound blaming, but life is a mystery. Life is like that.

A multitude of things happens in our life unexpectedly. Half of the troubles, we face can be traced by saying “yes” too quickly and not saying “no” soon. Faulty notions are made right. Simple scenarios are made complicated. Easy problems find complex remedies. Misunderstanding locks people in dispute. Conversations may lead to deception. Simple words may lead to misconception. Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace.

You will never find peace of mind until you listen to your heart. At times, you fail to take note of the vibrations of your heart. Improve your life by changing the people you surround yourself with. Stop expecting loyalty from people who can not even give you honesty. The negativity and the hurt in your life cannot be changed or undone or forgotten. Take it as a lesson learned and surround yourself with people who support you, guide you and make you better than already you are.

Life is beautiful in its own way and we should look for reasons to enjoy it and embrace its beauty amid the issues we are dealing with. Beautiful things happen in your life when you distance yourself from all the negative things. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile. Fill your life with experiences, that becomes success stories to narrate. Small steps in the right direction can turn out to be the biggest step of your life. Be strong. Strong walls shake but never collapse. Your life is your gift. Love life, it will love you back.

And Still, I Rise!
