“Harris lays out her vision leading up to Election Day”–A CNN headline last week that takes guts to publish. For Harris, the U.S. vice president and Democratic Party’s presidential nominee for the 2024 elections, has grabbed headlines mostly for her impossibly dumb comments in response to simple and straightforward questions.
Harris’s replies leave the media and viewers aghast and exasperated. Accompanied by her nervous and absurd laughter, which indicates a psychological disorder, Harris literally gets on the nerves of a listener. It is not for nothing that she has become the laughing stock of the media—from America to Australia, and that of the world leaders. Only a minority of the diehard Democratic Party supporters would dub the criticism against Harris as “unfair”, “racist” or “sexist”.
Anybody with even average intelligence can make out that unless she is reading out from a prepared script, Harris rings hollow on most issues. Following are some examples of why she is being variously described as “dumb”, “brainless”, “idiotic”, “queen of waffle” and “Cackling Kamala”(the last sobriquet given by former president and Republican presidential nominee for 2024 Donald Trump).
About what the government was doing to stop covid-19, that was at its peak when Harris assumed office and took the highest death toll in America, this was her classic and unforgettable response: “It is time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is everyday. Everyday it is time for us to agree that things can be done and tools are available to us to slow this down.”
At a function about underprivileged and homeless children, Harris said this, leaving the audience agape and her critics mocking her till date: “Talking about the significance of the passage of time. Right? Talking about the significance of the passage of time, so when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time.”
In 2022, in an interview with The Washington Examiner, she was asked, “Did democrats fail democratic presidents and past Congressional leaders to not codify Roe v Wade over the past five decades?” Here is her answer: “I think that that to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled, certain issues are just settled clearly, we are not, which is why we will work together to address these issues, to tackle these challenges and to work together as we continue to work, to work together on and I know we will work on this together.” ( I did not miss or add a single pearl of wisdom here.)
To a question on what culture is, this was her quotable quote: “Culture is..it is a reflection on a moment in our time and present culture is how we are feeling at this moment in time, and we should always find time to express ourselves because it is a reflection of a moment of joy–and it comes every morning”– followed by her hideous laughter.
When asked about the Russia-Ukraine war two years ago, and how it affected the U.S.: “Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So basically that’s wrong.”
When she visited Poland that had an influx of refugees on account of the war, Harris addressed a press conference with the president of Poland. Asked if the U.S. would take refugees fleeing the war, Harris first laughed her awful laughter for several seconds, then looked to the president, saying, “A friend in need is a friend Indeed.” Harris was anticipating an answer from the Polish president, who later commented on a social media account saying Harris should never become president because she is so terrible.
It is such intelligence and communication disasters that have earned Harris legitimate and ruthless criticism from the right-wing media. Yes, the American media stands totally divided along ideological lines, an outcome of the presidency of Trump who came to power in 2017.
Incidentally, when Trump became president, he faced due criticism from the media for being the most “sexist”, “dumbest”, “most ill-informed” and “limited vocabulary” man in the post in American history. His was a black and white world in which every opponent was either “horrible” or “terrible”, and policy decisions of the previous democratic rule were “bad” and “awful”. He could rarely break down his criticism into an intelligent description.
With the appearance of Harris on the scene and her nomination as the presidential candidate, Trump has begun to be seen as “smart” and “bright”–even by his critics. Harris, they know, beats him hollow. The most scathing parody on her came last week on a YouTube channel, ‘Presidential Reviews’. The commentary was a take off from legendary naturalist-film maker David Attenborough’ style and is worth reproducing in full:
“The North American Cackling Dingus is among the most intelligent of all Democratic species. Interestingly, the Cackling Dingus has evolved within the swamps of our nation’s Capital to forego traditional traits such as skill or intelligence. Instead, it thrives on its diversity. This particular Dingus has remarkably ascended the ranks in Washington. Despite its dodo birdlike personality knocking on that door and practicing how to do it, despite her so-called room temperature IQ, the Cackling Dingus may astonishingly transcend the ranks of swamp creatures and emerge as the leader of the Free World, not through the traditional electrol process, but sheer attrition.
“This diversity hire could find herself in the highest office globally. It is truly remarkable that a woman, who as the saying goes, couldn’t pour water out of a shoe even if the instructions were on the heel, might one day be entrusted with playing the nuclear football.”
Forget the sarcasm of this commentary. It is worth heeding for the dangers it highlights, not just for America, but for the whole world. The concerns about the American president having control over the nuclear button have been growing since Trump became president, who was rightly seen as too rash and reckless to have that power, and the concerns persist even now. Current president Joe Biden’s battle with dementia disqualified him for that nearly as soon as he assumed office, and Harris, who clearly has a missing link in her intelligence evolution, certainly should not be entrusted with that power.
In short, the U.S. is facing a tragic and literally deadly dilemma in choosing between Republican Trump and Democratic Harris, the two presidential nominees in the November 2024 elections. Looking at the contest, George Washington, the first president of America, would be turning in his grave as would many other brilliant presidents.
