The pet dog, that traced the body of its toddler companion Dhanuska after the Pettimudi landslide, is all set to be part of the state police K9 squad, reports Malayala Manorama news.
As per reports, a directive in this regard was sent from the DGP office to the district police headquarters. Specialist veterinary doctors will check the health parameters of Kuvi.
“Steps have been initiated to induct the dog, named Kuvi, to the police dog squad,” district police chief R Karuppasamy was quoted saying.
Eight days after a massive landslide struck Pettimudi in Idukki district, Kuvi had traced the body of two-year-old Dhanuska from the river.
It was looking at the way the pet dog performed during the mishap, Ajith Madhavan, a civil police officer and trainer of the district K9 dog squad, approached the district Collector that finally led to inducting Kuvi to the K9 squad.
