A Shri Ram Sena leader, Mohan Babu, a resident of Soppadi near Mathigiri in Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu, was hacked to death by a gang of six persons, suspected to be members of a radical Islamist outfit on Sunday (January 2). The police have not revealed the identity of the accused. However, the police said previous enmity as the reason for the murder.
According to a media report, the incident occurred when Mohan Babu came out of his house for some work. “The gang surrounded him and started attacking him with wooden logs and machetes. He collapsed and died,” said a police officer.
Ever since the DMK government led by M K Stalin came to power, there has been an increase in the attacks on Hindu organisations. Islamist outfits have killed more than 250 Hindu leaders in the last one decade in a similar fashion.
