Pakistan envoy evaded a question during an Interpol meeting when asked if Pakistani authorities would hand over underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim, and Lashkar-e-Taiba chief, Hafiz Saeed.
The question was put forward to the chief of Pakistan’s investigating agency, Federal Investigating Agency (FIA), Mohsin Butt, by a journalist during the Interpol General Assembly meeting held in Delhi.
When asked the question, the Pakistani security chief became uneasy and put his finger on his lips as a sign to keep quiet.
The Interpol General Assembly is attended by ministers, police chiefs, police officials, Bureau chiefs, etc. from 95 member states across the world. The general assembly is the ultimate decision-making body of Interpol. The yearly meeting is being held here after a gap of twenty-five years after India appealed to the international agency to conduct its general assembly meeting in Delhi on the sidelines of India’s 75th year of Independence.
The Central Government said that this was an opportunity to showcase the specialties of the Indian law and order system to the world.
