The mortal remains of the four medical students from Tamil Nadu who died of drowning in the River Volga in southern Russia reached Chennai this evening. They were brought in a Turkish Airlines flight via Istanbul to the city airport. They were later taken to their native places by road.
The four were from Chennai, Tiruppur, Salem and Cuddalore districts. They were studying medicine in the Volgograd State Medical University in Russia. On the eighth of this month, one of them is said to have drowned while taking bath in the river while others tried to rescue him. In the process all four died.
Tamil Nadu state BJP chief L.Murugan and others paid respects to them at the airport.
