Malaysia Hindu Sangam has strongly condemned the statement of Udayanidhi Stalin who had said Sanatan Dharma should be ‘eradicated like mosquito, malaria or corona’. Stalin Junior’s statement had triggered widespread outrage across the country. Cases have been filed in two states against Udayanidhi for insulting Sanatan Dharma.
According to the Sangam, the speech by Udayanidhi may stir disharmony among the Indian community and the Hindus who come from different ethnic communities. The Sangam called upon the government of India “to take strong action against this act which is done without respect to the sensitivity of people”.
Meanwhile, Udayanidhi’s father and Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin backed his son over the reported statement and accused prime minister Narendra Modi of using Sanatana Dharma as a diversionary tactic.
The chief minister said Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagamthe (DMK) provided the women what Sanatan denied them. “We have promoted our ideology through enlightenment, eschewing violent means to achieve our goals.”
He hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and said it will find itself sinking in quicksand if it believes it can tarnish DMK’s reputation over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments that “Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated”.
