A tragic incident occurred in London on Friday, resulting in the death of a Malayali man at the hands of his roommate. The victim, identified as Aravind Sasikumar, a 37-year-old native of Panampilly Nagar, became the victim of a fatal stabbing following a quarrel at their shared residence on Southampton Way in Peckham, southeast London. The suspect, a 20-year-old Keralite, has been taken into custody by the authorities.
Reports suggest that the altercation between Aravind and his roommate escalated, leading to the violent act. The local police received a distress call requesting medical assistance at 1:36 am on Friday. Despite the efforts of the paramedical team, Aravind’s injuries from the stabbing proved to be severe, and he could not be resuscitated.
During the course of the investigation, two other Malayalis, who allegedly witnessed the crime and sought refuge at a nearby shop, were also taken into custody to aid in the probe.
Aravind, who had been living in Britain for the past ten years, was unmarried and had arrived in the country on a student visa. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Malayali community residing in London and has sparked concerns over the safety of individuals within the city.
This unfortunate incident follows another tragic case involving a Malayali man who murdered his wife and two children in Kettering, UK, in December of last year. These incidents highlight the need for continued efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the Malayali community abroad.
The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, with authorities working to gather evidence and ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. As more information becomes available, a clearer picture of the events leading up to the crime will emerge.
