When you function in love,
Your inside creates your outside.
When you function in fear,
Your outside creates your inside. – Drunvalo Melchizedek
We have stayed indoors for almost two months. Many worked from home while many had to attend to their work as well. Health workers, security forces, mediapersons, sanitation workers, and people working in other categories of essential services worked day in and day out for us.

As the schools were closed, teachers had to take classes online. This was a loss for children as they missed the hurly burly of classrooms and unrestrained interactions with their friends. But it provided opportunities for people to spend time with their own. There are children who seldom see their parents on weekends or on holidays. The shutdown has provided opportunities for us to understand those who we thought knew much about.

Overdose of information about the Covid-19 pandemic has filled us with fear. Lakhs of people died in so-called developed countries, making us lose sleep over our own safety. A kind of fear psychosis has gripped our people who were worried about their jobs, businesses, studies and health. The health care systems were under severe strain. This added to further anxieties and mental trauma.
How to beat fear
Maharishi Patanjali says,
Svarasavahi vidusho’pi tatharidho bhinivesah
Meaning: Abhinivesha is the desire for life sustained by its own force which dominates even the learned.
Abhinivesha means the fear of death. Every person, irrespective of whether he is rich or poor or learned or illiterate has fear of death. Abhinivesha is the fifth kleshas (difficulty). It is dominant over the other four kleshas such as avidya (ignorance), asmita (I-feeling or ego), raga (attachments), dwesha (pain). Kleshas are the cause of all the pain and sufferings in our lives. The only way to get rid of this klesha is viveka (knowledge). When a person will come to know the ways to handle the difficult situation, then the fear is reduced to minimum.
Chanakya says, “a person should be scared from fear till the time it is away from his/her. When the fear comes nearer, face it, understand it and smartly handle it.”
How to overcome the fear of Covid
Till the time scientists come out with a reliable vaccine, we have to live with the Covid-19 pandemic. We have to take precautions and protocols seriously. We have to fill our lives with positivity. It is very important to train the mind to speak positive and react positively in adverse conditions.
One should work on enhancing his/her immunity. Kadha, Chyawanprash should be taken regularly, exercises, yogasanas, pranayama or other known methods should be performed to enhance the immunity.
Food plays an important role in one’s life too. There are three gunas described in the Bhagwad Gita. They are sattwa, rajas and tamas. Sattwic guna creates positivity, clarity, intelligence, love, peace, compassion, forgiveness, etc. Rajasic guna creates hyperactivity, wilfulness, ambition, manipulation, anger, greed for money, etc. Tamasic guna creates fear, dishonesty, depression, self-destruction, addiction, violence, hatred, laziness, lack of care, etc.
One should include fresh fruits and fresh vegetables in one’s diet. Eat freshly prepared and warm food and avoid cold and stale food as these are considered as tamasic food. Diet must be complete and balanced. Food should be eaten at a peaceful state of mind. While eating food discussions should be pleasant and avoid reading and watching the disturbing facts.
Yoga strengthens the immune system and its regular practice helps to counter the disorders that affect them. One should start with Surya Namaskar then perform the yogasanas such as Setubandhasana, Ardhamatsyendrasana, Padahastasana, Bhujangasana, Supta Baddhakonasana, Prasarita Padottanasana, Adho Mukha Shvanasana, Dhanurasana, Matsyasana, Halasana, Balasana. In pranayama, one should practice Kapalbhati, Vatakarma Kapalbhati, Nadishodhan Pranayama, Ujjayi Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama. After this, do meditation and yoga nidra.
Any individual can protect himself/herself by forming the ENERGY SHIELD by following these steps:

- Cross your leg and sit.
- Pray to God to help you in making the Energy Shield and give you White Light (positive and bright light).
- Imagine that the White Light is coming from Him towards you.
- With that White Light, draw a Pyramid or crystal ball around yourself. (as shown in the picture above)
- Imagine that whole Pyramid or Crystal ball (including you too) is filled with White Light.
- Make an affirmation, “You are Safe and Secure. You are filled with Positivity, Health, Happiness, Love, Peace, etc.”
- Mention the time bound i.e. say “I am protected from now till tomorrow morning”.
One should try to form this Energy Protection Shield every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to sleep. Always have an intention that you are protected in an Energy Shield, safe and secure.
Sleep also plays an important role. Take an adequate sleep to remain healthy. Drink enough water to detox your body and keep yourself hydrated.
Don’t forget to say Thank you to God every day.
By using our Viveka (knowledge), we can minimize the fear. It’s time to face it by improving your immunity and creating a shield around you.
Om Shantih, Om Shantih, Om Shantih……
