Finally, Supreme Court began day to day hearing of the most contentious civilizational dispute in the country on Aug. 6, 2019 and completed it on Oct. 16, 2019 i.e. after 40 days of acrimonious judicial brouhaha. Judgement was first reserved then delivered on Nov. 9, 2019 by the five judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi that included one Muslim Judge too. Original birth place of Shri Rama was restored to Sanatana Dharma whose authenticity and accuracy was established beyond an iota of doubt by Jagadguru Ramabhadracharya, an erudite scholar quoting Veda-s and other scriptures to buttress his points which could not be contradicted by the other group representing Babari marauders.
Let us have glimpses of the historic movement no less than a revolution of sorts –
Vaishvata Manu, progenitor of current 7th Manvantara out of a Kalpa of 14, founded Ayodhya on Sarayu banks, now eastern Uttar Pradesh. Along with Bhagavan Matsyavatara, he protected life on earth from Pralaya. His two sons Ila and Ikshvaku raised Chandravansha and Suryavansha dynasties. His Saptarishis were Kashyapa, Atri, Vashishtha, Vishvamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni and Bharadvaja.
During Treta Yuga, Bhagavan Vishnu incarnated as Shri Rama was born in Suryavansha dynasty to re-establish Dharma and decimate a large variety of felons.
Sakari Samrat Vikramaditya raised and consecrated a grand Rama Mandira some 2100 years ago.
First Islamic invasion led by Mir Baqi of Babars army was confronted by 1,76,000 Rama-devotees who perished in the battle and the shrine destroyed in 1528 CE.
A masjid like shabby structure bereft of minarets and wazu was raised on ruins of the Mandira using its rubble so generated after its destruction.
From 1528 CE to 1949 CE, there were some 76 battles to reclaim the holy site to reconstruct the shrine. Those who battled included Guru Govinda Singh, Maharani Raj Kunwar and several others.
1858 witnessed First Information Report being filed by a Moulvi of ‘Masjid-e-Janmasthana’ in ‘Faizabad’ court. First public hearing was held in 1885.
At mid-night of Dec. 22, 1949, infant Shri Rama revealed Himself at the birthplace under the central dome of that masjid like structure.
Vishva Hindu Parishad organised first Dharma Sansad in April, 1984 at Vijnana Bhavan, resolved to reclaim the site and herald mass-awakening among Hindu-s all over the country.
In 1983, veteran Congress leader Dau Dayal Khanna heralded a call to all Hindu-s from Muzaffarnagar in a Hindu Sammelan right in presence of Gulzari Lal Nanda to reclaim not only Ayodhya but also Kashi and Mathura. Entire structure was attached under Section 145 Cr. PC, appointed a receiver and gates locked. However a Pujari was allowed to go inside twice a day to conduct Puja.
VHP commenced Ram-Janaki Rath Yatra from Sitamarhi to Ayodhya in Oct. 1984, suspended for a year then re-commenced in Oct. 1985 with the demand to unlock the shrine.
On Feb. 1, 1986, shrine was ordered to be unlocked under heavy public pressure.
Jan. 1989 witnessed a Dharma Sansad being organised by VHP on banks of Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj during Kumbha festival and first Shri Rama Shila Pujan being solemnised at Shri Badrinath Dham.
About 2,75,000 Shri Rama Shila-s were collected at the site from all over with participation of some 60 million devotees. Kameshvara Chaupal from Bihar was permitted by the Government to lay foundation stone of the Mandira on Nov. 9, 1989. At their Palampur NE Conclave-1989, BJP resolved to support the Andolan wholeheartedly.
A model of the proposed shrine was prepared by reputed temple architect Chandrakant Sompura whose grandfather Padma Shri PO Sompura had designed present Shri Somnatha shrine in Dvarka.
Karseva for reconstruction of the shrine was announced on June 24, 1990, to commence from Devotthani Ekadashi on Oct. 30, 1990. Shri Rama Jyoti was ignited by Arani Manthana, sent to every Hindu home across the country and Deepavali of the year was celebrated with that. Thousands of devotees on Oct. 30, 1990 forced their way into Ayodhya defying demoniacal Mulayam Singh Yadava Government and successfully hoisted a saffron flag on top of the structure.
Karsevaks were brutally fired upon on Nov. 2, 1990 leading to scores of deaths.
Largest ever rally was held at Boat Club in New Delhi on April 4, 1991 which compelled UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav to resign.
During Sept. 1992, Shri Rama Paduka Pujan was organised in every village across the nation and devotees were appealed to assemble on Gita Jayanti falling on Dec. 6, 1992. Lakhs of devotees responded and assembled in Ayodhya.
Defiant Karsevaks razed disputed structure into a rubble on Dec. 6, 1992. An inscription of 20 lines in Samskrita on a large stone-slab recovered was deciphered by epigraphists to have been carved in 12th century CE. Beginning with ‘Om Namaha Shivaya’ it mentioned details of the grand shrine, the King who constructed it and dedication unto ‘Vishnu Hari who killed Dashanana’. 250 more artifacts were recovered from the rubble.
Makeshift temple was erected, 67 acres of land were acquired by Narsimha Rao Government through Parliamentary enactment to ‘protect’ Shri Rama as an infant.
Permission for regular Puja was granted by Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Jan. 1, 1993. It has continued since then.
President referred to Supreme Court under Article 143-A of the Constitution, “Whether a Hindu temple or any Hindu religious structure existed prior to the construction of Shri Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid in the area on which the structure stood ?” Acquisition of land too was challenged by a Muslim.
Supreme Court authorised Lucknow bench of the High Court on Oct. 24, 1994 to adjudicate all issues including the Presidential reference. Three Judge bench of the High Court commenced hearing in 1995.
In 2002, GPRS of the site was ordered by Canadian experts. They reported presence of a massive structure and recommended excavation of the site.
In 2003, ASI was ordered to conduct excavation at the site under videography with 40% Muslim labourers under supervision of two observers. It was an eye-opening exercise with plenty of relics discovered and a Shiva Temple. It was now established, so-called masjid was not raised on a virgin land.
In 2010, High Court ordered trifurcation of the site among Nirmohi Akhara, UP Sunni Waqf Board and Shri Ramajanmabhumi Nyasa.
In 2011, Supreme Court stayed the order to maintain status quo.
In 2015, VHP launched nationwide campaign to collect bricks and stones for reconstruction of the shrine. UP CM Akhilesh Yadava blocked those trucks from reaching the site.
In August 2019, Supreme Court commenced hearings on daily basis and delivered final judgement on Nove. 9, 2019 in favour of the Mandira.
Lakhs and crores of people struggled, fought and battled while thousands sacrificed themselves for the historic Andolan. As a mark of adoration and tributes to all of them, few names are being mentioned here i.e. Gurudutt Singh, Abhiram Das, KK Nair, Hanuman Prasad Poddar, Baba Raghava Das, Svami Karpatriji Maharaja, Dau Dayal Khanna, Mahanta Ramchandra Das, Moropant Pingle, Ashok Singhal, Mahanta Avaidyanatha, Devaraha Baba, Devkinandana Agrawal, Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Kothari brothers, Svami Vamdeva, Kameshvara Chaupal and jurist K. Parasaran.
At the root of centuries long dispute were tenets of monotheistic Islamic doctrine entailing ‘Once a masjid, always a masjid’, entire world if not entire universe is a ‘caliphate’, Kafirs have no right to exist and own property, entire Kafir assets indisputably belong to Muslims, Muslims enjoy unmitigated right to capture and enslave Kafir women etc. etc. These masjid generated notions didn’t allow Muslims to apply salve on injuries inflicted by them durion Partition-1947 pogrom on defenceless Hindu-s, reclaim trust of Hindu-s and move towards a society existing peacefully in communal harmony. Why Bharatiya Muslims utterly failed to integrate themselves into our ancient fundamental identity of the nation is an enigmatic riddle in view of the fact that countries like Egypt, Indonesia etc. well retrieved their ancient glory, preserved that and made a public display of all that bereft of fanaticism at all. They alone have suffered grievously and still languishing under the mesmerizing spell of their wooden-headed maulanas, maulavis, muftis, hajis etc. They are the one who collectively stall every effort of reformation and rationalisation of that faith. Every faith must undergo periodic renaissance for survival as no entity is static in the universe, not even five Mahabhuta Tattva-s constituting our gross bodies. Attempt to stall recycling only leads to decline and decimation.
Yet, to the rooted Sanatana civilizational consciousness, there is something innately abhorrent that this whole thing should have even been given the appellation of a “court case.” The fact that not only was it treated as a court case, it was even called a “property dispute,” “title dispute” and variants thereof show how far the Sanatana society had been enfeebled and emaciated during seventy-plus years in recent past. Real villains who accelerated this enfeebling are those bearing Hindu names. But the larger tragedy is the fact that they have suffered absolutely no punishment for their crimes against Hindu civilizational memory, cultural vandalism and their generational child abuse via textbooks which have produced legions of Swara Bhaskars and Gurmehar Kaurs. In all finality, the shrine has become a reality being celebrated and welcomed in a grand style. Dissenting voices from some Mutt-heads are as inevitable as ever before, deserve to be ignored as our civilizational frailty. Renaissance and resurgence of Sanatana Dharma have been overdue and in operational mode now with the ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ of Shri Rama at His birthplace in Ayodhya.
