Senior politician and film actor Khushbu Sundar celebrates all festivals with a lot of passion. Indus Scrolls caught up with the popular artist to find out how she celebrated this festival, which is celebrated with great fervour in South India and other parts of the country.
Khushbu is a good cook also. Here, she gives a few tips on how to make Pongal. She says, “The food during this festival especially Sweet Pongal (Chakara Pongal) has many health benefits. It is not only about celebrating the festival but also about taking care of the health. Prepare Sweet Pongal with a lot of jaggery to it. Because jaggery purifies your blood, doesn’t add on to your sugar level, it also helps you in cold cough and flu. All these preparations are also made by adding lots of ghee as ghee has many benefits. Ghee aids in keeping your muscles fit, helps in fighting throat infections. The most important thing about pongal is that it tastes best when it is cooked in a mud pot.”
