The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council is solidly standing behind rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal. According to a statement issued by the KCBC, the arrest of the Bishop was an unfortunate incident. Earlier, KCBC has condemned the strike by nuns, saying the agitation had crossed all limits.
The police said the potency test conducted on Franco was positive. “This is a very crucial piece of evidence against Franco. We are expanding the scope of investigation. Now, there is no political pressure,” told a police source to Indus Scrolls.
Senior members of the clergy Jacob Murikkan, Mathew Chandrankunnel and MLA PC George and others met Franco at the prison. Controversial politician PC George said mediapersons were behind the arrest of Franco. “Hellfire will lash on the country for imprisoning an innocent priest,” said George.
Meanwhile, the rape survivor nun had filed a complaint with the police against George for calling her a “prostitute”.
