Twitter CEO Elon Musk has once again created buzz on social media with his latest updates to the micro-blogging site. This time, he has replaced the iconic blue bird logo, which has served as a home button on the web version of Twitter, with the popular “doge” meme of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. The change was noticed by Twitter users on Monday, who saw the ‘doge’ meme featuring the face of a Shiba Inu in place of the bird logo on the web version of Twitter.
The ‘doge’ meme is well-known as the logo of the Dogecoin blockchain and cryptocurrency, which was created as a joke in 2013 to mock other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Interestingly, there was no change to Twitter’s mobile app.
Musk also shared a humorous post on his account featuring the ‘doge’ meme in a car, telling a police officer who seems to be checking his driving license that his photo has been changed.
To top it off, Musk also shared a screenshot of a conversation between him and an anonymous account from March 26, 2022, where the account asked to change the bird logo to “doge.” He shared this post on Twitter with the caption, “As promised.”
The change in Twitter’s logo to the ‘doge’ meme is likely to grab attention from the crypto community, which has been growing in recent years. With Musk’s love for Dogecoin and his constant tweets about it, the move seems to be a nod towards the cryptocurrency.
