Investigations by Kerala Police showed that Aquil Muhammad Hussain, a doctor in Thrissur Medical College arrested with narcotic substances, was a key person in the drug trade. He has supplied narcotic substances to several students, including some girl students. The police are investigating the role of the son of a politician in the drug trade in the Thrissur Medical College.
According to police, there were regular rave parties in the hostels in which girls and boys together used to consume drugs and other intoxicating substances. The police have recovered MDM, hashish oil and other narcotic substances from Dr Aquil.
The police have booked Dr Aquil for sale and consumption of narcotic substances. According to the accused, at least 15 doctors in the medical college are heavy addicts of drugs. Dr Aquil was arrested from his rented accommodation near the medical college. The police have recovered 3 grams of MDM, LSD stamp and hashish oil from his room. His room is said to be a hub for narcotic sale.
A senior police official said the drug issue is serious issue and sons and daughters of senior politicians and influential people are part of the racket. Many girls from descent families end up as carriers. Dr Aquil, a resident of Kozhikode, has sourced drugs from Visakhapattanam and Bengaluru. He has been consuming drugs for the last three years.
Observers say Kerala is fast becoming a hub of drug business. Some time ago, Bishop of Pala had remarked that there is a narcotic jihad in Kerala undertaken by Islamist forces to trap non-Muslims.
