Researchers have found evidence that brain surgery was done 3000 years ago. One of the bones found in the city of Megiddo in Israel has evidence that the surgery was done years ago.

The skeletons of two brothers were found in the excavation conducted by the Archeology Department. The researchers also say that these are the skeletons of people between the ages of 20 and 40.

Reports also suggest that this skeleton belongs to the Bronze Age. One of the two brothers had undergone several brain surgeries before his death. This brain surgery was performed about 3000 years ago.

At that time brain surgery was done by trephination method. “We have evidence that trephination was a universal and widespread surgery for thousands of years,” said researcher Rachel Kalisher.

4,000 years ago the city of Megiddo was the main land route connecting Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia and Anatolia. It was later transformed into a prosperous cosmopolitan city full of palaces, temples and forts.
