A school teacher from Kerala has been arrested for sharing obscene videos in an online learning class group of Class 5 students. The teacher, Manoj K Mathew, 45, from Maruthamanpally, has been arrested on a complaint by the school authorities.
The incident happened at around 11 am on Tuesday when children were attending a Malayalam study class with their parents at home. The parents immediately informed the school principal. The principal then called the concerned teacher and demanded an explanation.
The teacher explained that the video came from his phone but he was not aware of. The headmaster said that the teacher explained that he had forwarded the video to the group unknowingly and he had apologized for the incident. However, it was when political parties including BJP interfered, the matter coming into limelight.
As the incident became controversial, a teachers’ meeting was called in the school. Subsequently, school officials reported to the Veliam AEO and the school manager. He also lodged a complaint with the Pooyapally police station.
BJP, led by the Veeranallur panchayat committee, staged a protest and blocked the office of the Head Master. It was only after the authorities informed them that proper action would be taken, the protesters withdrew.
