Fans of the iconic Indian TV series “Shaktiman” can rejoice as actor Mukesh Khanna has announced that the much-anticipated Shaktiman movie is set to resume shooting. The film, which has garnered significant attention since its announcement last year, is expected to be a big-budget production backed by Sony Pictures.
During a recent episode on his YouTube channel, Mukesh Khanna shared exciting details about the upcoming film. “The contract has been signed. It’s a big-budget film. One film would cost Rs. 200-300 crore, and it will be made by Sony Pictures, the one who made Spider-Man,” Khanna revealed. The actor further confirmed that despite facing setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, the production team is determined to bring the beloved superhero character to the silver screen.
Last year, there were speculations that Bollywood star Ranveer Singh would portray the role of Shaktiman in the film adaptation. However, Khanna refrained from confirming or denying the reports, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement.
Khanna emphasized the scale and significance of the project, stating, “I recently told someone that this is not a small film; it is a massive film, and that takes time. A lot of things are happening. But I am not allowed to talk. I can’t reveal who will play the role of Shaktiman. But it is a commercial film, so it involves a lot of commercial talks.” He also disclosed that while he will be part of the movie, he will not be reprising his role as Shaktiman to avoid any direct comparisons with the original TV series.
“Shaktiman” captured the hearts of audiences, especially children, and became one of the most beloved TV shows on Doordarshan. Premiering 26 years ago in 1997, the series gained immense popularity and was considered a cultural phenomenon alongside other iconic shows like “Mahabharata” and “Ramayana.”
