In Uttar Pradesh, 24 migrant workers have lost their lives when a truck carrying them was hit by another on national highway in Auraiya district early this morning. All were migrant labourers who were going to Gorakhpur from Faridabad. The incident took place around 3.30 a.m. near Miholi Village in Sadar Kotwali area of Auraiya District.
District Magistrate Abhishek Singh told media that 81 migrant workers were travelling in a truck which was coming from Faridabad and going to Gorakhpur. The truck was stationed outside an eating joint when another truck hit it from behind.
Those who lost their lives in this tragic accident were migrant workers from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. IG Kanpur Range Mohit Agrwal told media that 15 serious persons have been shifted to Saifai Medical College and if the need arises patients can be transferred to Lucknow. Yogi Adityanath has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the labourers who lost their lives. He has also directed that all the injured be provided medical care immediately.
