Violence erupts as TMC goons attack Amit Shah’s Kolkata roadshow

Trinamool Congress goons on Tuesday attacked the BJP’s roadshow led by its president Amit Shah in Kolkata. According to media reports, TMC goons pelted stones and sticks on a truck carrying BJP leaders, including Shah.

Eyewitnesses told Indus Scrolls that several BJP workers and journalists were injured in the stone pelting. In several places TMC goons attacked BJP workers who were participating in the roadshow. Enraged by the attack, BJP workers also pelted stones on the police who resorted to lathicharge.

West Bengal has been witnessing election-related violence form the first phase. A BJP booth official was hacked to death by Trinamool goons on Monday.

Addressing party workers, Shah said Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC have destroyed the native culture and democracy in the state. People had great expectations when they had voted her to power. But she failed to rise to the expectations of the people. Now, people have made up their mind to oust her from power.

Shah’s roadshow started at 4.30 pm from Esplanade and ended at Swami Vivekananda Bhavan in North Kolkata. The BJP president was accompanied by Rahul Sinha, party candidate from North Kolkata, and Chandra Kumar Bose, BJP candidate in South Kolkata.

The participants of the roadshow shouted slogans of Jai Sri Ram and Narendra Modi Zindabad.
