Unique #temple in Kerala where fried dried fish and toddy is prasad, people from any religion and caste can visit and get their desires fulfilled  

The Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple, also known as the Parassini Madappura Sree Muthappan Temple, located along the Valapattanam River in the Kannur district, draws people from all walks of life, regardless of religion or caste. A unique aspect of the temple is that dogs are revered as sacred, as they are considered to be the mount of Lord Muthappan. This temple is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in northern Kerala and offers free meals and lodging to all visitors. The temple provides boiled black beans and tea as Prasadam to the devotees.

Parasshinikadav temple is located 16 km from Kannur. This temple on the banks of the Valapatnam river is also the most visited place in Kannur. This temple is in Kannur Anthur Municipal Corporation. Devotees say that Muthappan is the one who fills the minds and bellies of those who come to visit him. If you reach Muthappan’s presence, you will get food here, no matter how late it is. Caste and religion are not the criteria here.

Dogs roaming around the temple premises is a sight that cannot be seen in any other temple in Kerala. Parassinikadav Muthappan is also Bhairava Murti, whose vehicle is a dog. It is one of the rare temples that follow unique Dravidian forms of worship. Shaiva Vaishnava concepts are present here. The main offerings here are fried dried fish and toddy.

Parasshinikadav Muthappan Madapura is one of the rare temples where theyam (demigod) is performed every day of the year. Mutthappa is represented by Lord Shiva with a crescent-shaped crown and Lord Vishnu with a fish-shaped crown. Thiruvapana and Vellatta are offered here every day in the early morning and evening.
