How is the Ukraine war connected to Atmanirbhar Bharat? How does the global crisis create an ideal opportunity for Make in India?
In anticipation of US sanctions against Russia, India has opted to cancel several defence and import orders. Perhaps these scenarios were considered during Putin’s visit to India. The primary sanctions target Russia’s access to the SWIFT global money settlement system. Most financial transactions would cease to exist without this mechanism of sending and receiving money from outside via banks.
However, with the development of the Rupee-Ruble exchange system between India and Russia, it is now possible to conduct business directly in one’s own currency without relying on foreign institutions or dollar transfers. Russia’s veto power at the United Nations will prevent other countries from imposing sanctions to block trade links with Russia. India is under no responsibility to impose sanctions without the permission of the United Nations. As a result, there are no barriers to purchasing oil from Russia.
If the Ukraine War continues, it is possible that the firearm spare parts provided to India by Russia may suffer a setback. India may only receive spare once stock is allocated for Russian use. Additionally, newly placed orders may be delayed or cancelled. This is an excellent opportunity to give Atmanirbhar Bharat activities a boost. This chance can be used to mandate the commissioning and deployment of Indian weaponry by displacing Russian or American defence products with world-class war machines such as the Arjun Tank and the Pinaka Multi barrel Rocket Launching system.
It is critical to develop our military infrastructure during this time. The combined threat posed by China and Pakistan is a matter of survival for India as a country with volatile borders. Those who claim that India’s defence spending is excessive and is justified by an irrational desire for conflict are either stupid or anti-national.
Western countries primarily project their dominance by denying other countries access to their technology, such as GPS and Swift. They can isolate and financially devastate any country by limiting access to such programmes. Recognizing this, India gradually built its own UPI payment system, which is currently available throughout the GCC and SAARC region. The indigenous NAVIC system, which serves as a backup to GPS, was developed for military purposes is now fully operational.
This is the correct route of the course of action. Atmanirbhar Bharat.
