Sweden is set to make history by hosting the first-ever European Sex Championship, after becoming the first country to officially register sex as a sport. Organized by the Swedish Sex Federation, the championship is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2023, and will span several weeks, featuring participants competing for six hours each day.
The European Sex Championship will showcase 20 participants from different countries who have already applied to take part in the event. Competitors will have approximately 45 minutes to an hour to engage in their respective matches or activities. The championship will consist of 16 disciplines, including seduction, oral sex, penetration, appearance, and more.
Determining the winners of the championship will involve a combination of three juries and audience ratings. During the final evaluation, 70% of the votes will come from the audience, while the remaining 30% will be from the judges’ votes.

The decision to recognize sex as a sport was based on the belief that individuals can achieve mental and physical well-being through sexual activities, requiring preparation and training, according to Dragan Bratych, the president of the Swedish Federation of Sex. Bratych stated that just like any other sport, people need to train to achieve their desired results, making it a natural progression to engage in competitive sex.
The Swedish Sex Federation emphasizes that sex as a sport is a challenging endeavor that requires individuals to possess imaginative ideas, powerful emotions, physical fitness, endurance, and performance.
While the competition is set to be held for the first time this year, the federation plans to evolve the rules and structure of the championship in subsequent years based on feedback and market demands.
The European Sex Championship marks a unique and unprecedented development, reflecting the evolving perspectives on human sexuality and the exploration of new forms of competition and physical activities. As Sweden takes the lead in recognizing sex as a sport, it remains to be seen how other countries may respond and whether similar competitions will emerge in the future.
