Haryanvi folk singer Sapna Chaudhary on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of several senior party leaders.
Earlier, there were some controversies regarding her joining the Congress. However, she soon dismissed the reports saying those were rumours.
Chaudhary took the membership of the party in the presence of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, General Secretary Ram Lal, Delhi in-charge Shyam Jaju and Delhi city unit chief Manoj Tiwari at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The BJP has launched its membership drive all over the country. The popular singer had campaigned for the party in the Lok Sabha elections. In March, there was speculation that she had joined the Congress. But she denied this.
Meanwhile, there were reports that Olympian athlete Anju Bobby George has joined BJP. However, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan dismissed the reports and said she had come to meet him at the party’s membership drive meeting “to discuss another issue”. She was received with a party flag at the meeting. George also dismissed the reports that she had joined the BJP.
