Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari was hacked to death in Lucknow on Friday. He was a former leader of the Hindu Mahasabha.
According to reports, the assailants, wearing saffron clothes, entered Tiwari’s office in Khurshid Bagh area on the pretext of giving him a Diwali gift. Soon after walking into the office, the assailants opened the box, took out the firearm, pumped bullets into Tiwari and fled the scene. They also slit his throat. Tiwari was rushed straight to the trauma centre but could not be saved. He succumbed to the bullet injuries. He set up the Hindu Samaj Party in January 2017.
His murder has led to protests in areas of UP. In Purana Lucknow, angry workers of the party declared a shutdown.
