Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited famous Guruvayoor temple in Kerala today. He arrived in Kerala on Friday evening, on his way to the Maldives, which is his first international visit since becoming prime minister for his second term.
PM Modi offered prayers at the Sri Krishnaswamy temple where temple officials and state Devaswom Minister Kadakampalli Surendran, Central minister V Muraleedharan accorded a grand reception. He offered thulabharam vazhipad – weighing a person against articles used in temples such as sugar, jaggery, lotus flowers etc. Prime Minister Modi will then address a public meeting in Guruvayur at about 10 am.
The PMO has instructed the temple authorities not to make any special arrangements for him or change any puja schedules. It was reported that the Marxists in the administration had tried to tweak puja timings to show PM in poor light and embarrass the BJP.
