Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday directed to ensure the first dose of COVID vaccination to all those who are above 40 years old before July 15.
The Chief Minister said this while attending a review meeting on COVID issues and vaccination preparedness in the State.
The meeting revealed that as many as 50 lakh people above the 45-year-old age group are yet to be completed the first dose of vaccination in the State which is expected another 38 lakh doses of vaccine this month.
The meeting decided to take all precautionary measures to control the third wave of COVID with the cooperation of all concerned departments. Food kits will be provided to 85 lakh people before June 15.
The tender process has been completed for the installation of 35 PSA Oxygen plants which got the Centre’s approval. It will be functional from October next.
Efforts are going to trace the proliferation of mutant variants of COVID viruses in Kerala.
Steps are being taken in view of a possible third wave of genetic mutations in the coronavirus that thrown up the possibility of Covid infection among young children.
