India is strengthening its military build-up amid heightened Chinese fighter aircraft and helicopter activities along the Line of Actual Control. The Indian armed forces have deployed surface-to-air missile defence systems in the Eastern Ladakh sector.
“As part of the ongoing build-up in the sector, the air defence systems of both Indian Army and the Indian Air Force have been deployed in the sector to prevent any misadventure by the Chinese Air Force fighter jets or the People’s Liberation Army choppers there,” government sources told ANI.
India’s quick reaction air defence missile, the Akash missile, has been moved forward. The Akash missile can quickly shoot down very-fast moving combat aircraft and drones in a few seconds and also many modifications and upgrades have been added in it.
The Indian Air Force had already sent its Su-30MKIs to Eastern Ladakh after China started moving into Indian territory in May.
